Persimmons are small to medium in size. The persimmon’s thin skin is smooth and taut with a faint sheen, ripening to variegated shades of dark red, orange, and golden yellow. Underneath the surface, the flesh is crisp, silky, and smooth with a firm, jelly-like consistency. Persimmons have a sugary-sweet flavor comprised of warm spices and fruity undertones. The fruit is a good source of calcium, vitamin E, and contain other nutrients, including copper, iron, manganese, potassium, vitamin K, and vitamin B6.
